Xanga

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to migrate from Comcast to this new site which appears to be more user friendly.

First of all, I am back in China. My mother, Rong Zhi, and I came back on 13 November 2004 courtesy of United Airlines. We went back to our home in Henan Province on 25 November, Thanksgiving Day. What a Homecoming we received! My grandparents and neighbors were on the street waiting for our bus to arrive. It took a long time to go from Beijing to the village where we live. We first took a train, then transfer to a bus. My brothers were very glad to see us. We would have stayed up talking all night if my mother did not make them go to sleep as they have school the next day. No, Thanksgiving is not a national holiday in China. But we do have a lot to be thankful for.

My mother and I went back to Beijing on 6 December. She has a better chance of getting a job in Beijing than in our village. She enrolled me in a school for children of migrant workers. There are a lot of migrant workers in Beijing. Thanks to Christina at Operation Blessing, I was admitted to this school. When I was back home in Henan, the local schools declined to take me, supposedly because the semester is almost over. Thay said "come back next year." I am living in the school, sharing a room with three other boys. This is the first time I am away from my mother and I am really scared, although I like the classes during the day.

I will write more once I know how this works.
